General Settings

Configure your site's core identity including name, description, timezone, and global settings.

Overview

General settings control the fundamental aspects of your blog. These settings affect how your site appears to visitors and how content is displayed across different timezones.

Where to find it

Navigate to Settings → General in your dashboard to access these options.

Site Name

Your site name appears in the browser tab, header, and is used in SEO metadata. Choose a memorable, descriptive name for your blog.

Best practices

Keep your site name short (2-4 words) and memorable. It should reflect your blog's topic or brand identity.

The site description provides a brief summary of what your blog is about. This appears in search results and social media shares when no specific page description is set.

A good description helps search engines understand your site. Aim for 150-160 characters and include relevant keywords naturally.

Set your site's timezone to ensure scheduled posts publish at the correct time and timestamps display accurately for your audience.

Scheduling posts

If you schedule posts, make sure your timezone is set correctly. A post scheduled for 9 AM will publish at 9 AM in your selected timezone.

Language

Set the primary language for your blog. This affects the HTML lang attribute and helps search engines serve your content to the right audience.

Comments Toggle

Enable or disable comments globally across your entire site. When disabled, no posts will show comment sections, regardless of individual post settings.

Per-post override

Even with global comments enabled, you can disable comments on individual posts in the post editor. See the Comments documentation for details.

Saving Changes

After making changes to your general settings, click the Save button to apply them.

Update any of the fields on the General Settings page.

The Save button appears at the bottom of the settings panel.

Confirm success

A success message will appear confirming your changes were saved.

Changes take effect immediately

Your settings are applied instantly. Refresh your public site to see the changes.
