Analytics Tracking

Add Google Analytics to your blog to track visitors, page views, and user behavior.

Overview

Analytics tracking lets you understand how visitors interact with your blog. By adding your Google Analytics Measurement ID, you can track page views, user demographics, traffic sources, and more.

Where to find it

Navigate to Settings → Analytics in your dashboard.

Advanced analytics

For the Analytics Dashboard feature (view analytics directly in Postlyo), see the main Analytics Documentation.

Measurement ID

The Measurement ID is your unique Google Analytics 4 (GA4) identifier. It looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.

Enter your GA4 Measurement ID

Find this in your Google Analytics property settings.

GA4 only

Postlyo supports Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only. Universal Analytics (UA) has been deprecated by Google. Make sure your ID starts with G-.

Once enabled, tracking begins immediately. Data will appear in your Google Analytics dashboard within a few hours.

What Gets Tracked

When analytics is enabled, Google Analytics automatically tracks:

Page Views

Which pages visitors view

Visitors

Unique and returning users

Traffic Sources

Where visitors come from

Engagement

Time on page, bounce rate

Events

Clicks, scrolls, interactions

Demographics

Location, device, browser

Privacy Considerations

When using analytics, consider your visitors' privacy:

Cookie Consent

If you have visitors from the EU, consider adding a cookie consent banner. GDPR requires explicit consent for tracking cookies.

Privacy Policy

Update your privacy policy to mention that you use Google Analytics and what data is collected.

IP Anonymization

GA4 automatically anonymizes IP addresses, helping you comply with privacy regulations.

Data retention

By default, GA4 retains user data for 14 months. You can adjust this in your Google Analytics settings.
